It took 10 years before it was acquired by Platinum Yachts at the request of Sheikh Mohammed Rashid al-Maktoum, ruler of Dubai. It was this company that designed the interior of this magnificent yacht. The impressive features of the vessel include the multiple jacuzzis, sunbathing areas, a swimming pool and a helipad. This yacht also has a large social area, a lounge, and various guest suites and a VIP suite. It also has handmade mosaics that are intricately designed and a staircase with glass steps – that change in colour!
Azzam – $650 million
This luxury yacht was created for the President of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nayan. It is the fourth among the most expensive luxury yachts to be built today. This vessel is massive – 590 feet long. It is considered as the largest yacht in the whole world. Not only that, it is the fastest among the superyachts – reaching speeds of up to 30 knots. The interior is designed by Christophe Leoni, a known French interior designer. It is both sophisticated and luxurious with an Empire-ish style.
Streets of Monaco – $1.1 billion
This vessel tried to replicate the section of Monte Carlo in Monaco. It is an impressive feat – a 500-foot superyacht that has all the landmarks of Monte Carlo – all scaled to size. The Streets of Monaco was designed by Yacht Island Design in Derbyshire County. The vessel includes the Monte Carlo casino and even the racetrack. It also features the Hotel de Paris, Cafe de Paris, Loews Hotel, and La Rascasse. The yacht has extravagant living quarters and several swimming pools and tennis courts. There are even BBQ facilities, a cafe bar with views underwater, and a mini waterfall. There is even a place for submarines and helicopters. This is owned by Roman Abramovich – a Russian billionaire. It is built by Blohm and Voss in Hamburg. It measures 536 feet long. This vessel is the second most expensive and largest yacht in the world. There are 24 guest cabins, several hot tubs, 2 swimming pools and even a disco hall. The Eclipse also has 3 launch boats and a mini-submarine that can go as deep at 50 metres underwater. It is so luxurious that it has an intruder detection system and even its own missile defense system. For added protection, both the bridge and the master’s bedroom has bulletproof windows and armour plating. Since most of the passengers are of the elite and mostly important people, the yacht has an anti-paparazzi shield. This has lasers that sweep the surrounding areas. If a lurking photographer is spotted, the light will be directed towards the camera to prevent any photographs being taken. History Supreme – $4.5 billion
This is the most expensive luxury yacht in the world. Compared to the others, it is quite small – only 100 feet. It was designed by Stuart Hughes, a known UK luxury designer. This vessel took 3 years to complete and is owned by a Malaysian businessman who wishes to remain anonymous. So what makes this very expensive? Well, it uses 100,000 kg of solid gold and platinum. The base of the vessel, dining area, staircases, anchor, and rails are coated with a thin layer of gold. The master bedroom has a wall made out of a meteorite rock. Not only that, it also features a statue made out of a T-Rex’s bones! Add to that the Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium that is made of 68 kg of 24-carat gold and several expensive diamonds – this is a really impressive yacht.
